About The Roles

As part of Board renewal and retirements, we are seeking to recruit up to three new Directors and a Board Chair to join the Board. These appointments are an exciting opportunity to shape the future of a high-impact organisation that is central to the identity and economic development of the region.

Board Directors will work closely with the General Manager to ensure that the vision for Narooma Rocks is realised within a structure of robust strategic planning, sound financial and commercial management and strong governance.

Commitment

–          Board members attend approximately six to eight board meetings per year, predominantly online.

–          Board members do not need to live locally but ideally reside within a few hours’ travel of the Eurobodalla Shire for occasional face-to-face meetings and to provide hands on support during the Oyster Festival in early May each year.

Renumeration

These are voluntary board roles. Any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Narooma Rocks’ relevant policy.

About You

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated leadership experience, corporate acumen, and a passion for tourism, events, aquaculture, or the visitor economy. You’ll bring the right mix of strategic thinking, governance capability, and regional understanding  to complement the skills and knowledge of our existing Board.

Highly Desirable

–          Experience in events, food and beverage, aquaculture, tourism, or related sectors.

–          Experience with private sector companies that work closely with the public sector.

–          Strong regional stakeholder networks and engagement experience.

–          Demonstrated skills in corporate governance and an understanding of directors’ duties under the Corporations Act.

–          Experience in finance and accounting, including budgeting, balance sheets, and financial oversight.

–          Ability to develop and implement strategy and drive commercial outcomes.

–          Broad stakeholder management experience, including building partnerships across sectors.

–          Skills in marketing, digital distribution, public relations, journalism, or as a media spokesperson.

–          Event planning and management capability.

–          Understanding of governance-related risk management.

Desirable

–          Board director experience in a small, medium, or large organisation (preferred but not essential).

–          Experience in executive performance management (for Chair applicants).
