Why we’re recruiting

We’re seeking a new Board Member with lived experience of disability—either as someone living with disability or as a carer of someone with disability. Your insights will help shape decisions that reflect the real experiences and needs of the people we support.

We value community voice and inclusive leadership. This role is an opportunity to make meaningful impact by contributing to Enable WA’s strategic direction, governance, and advocacy.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome applications from people who:

  • Live with disability or are a carer/family member of someone with disability

  • Live in Western Australia (particularly regional areas)

  • Want to make a difference in their community

  • Are willing to share their knowledge and perspective to support better outcomes

  • Can commit to reading board papers and attending meetings (in person or via video call)

No prior board experience is necessary—we’ll support you with an onboarding process and training if required.

What Board Members do

  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (held approx. every 6 weeks)

  • Provide input into Enable WA’s strategic decisions

  • Act as an advocate for the disability community

  • Support good governance, compliance and risk management practices

  • Help uphold Enable WA’s mission, vision and values

We encourage applications in any format that suits you—this may include:

  • A written Expression of Interest

  • A video or audio recording

  • A phone call to discuss your interest

We are committed to an inclusive recruitment process and will make adjustments as needed to support your application.
