About the role

Nations of Origin is a multi-faceted sport, cultural, education and leadership youth program which culminates during NAIDOC week annually. The program has four main components: Reconciliation, Education, Cultural Identity and Sport. It is aimed at increasing school retention with all participants required to have 80% school attendance to be eligible to participate.

Nations of Origin has become one of the largest Aboriginal youth events in NSW and includes a total of 5 sporting tournaments: Rugby League 7’s, Football 5’s, Basketball, Gymnastics & Netball.

Rugby League Volunteer opportunity – Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 July

Your contribution as an event volunteer for Nations of Origin is invaluable in creating a safe, fun and enriching environment for young people to develop their skills, build character and experience pride in representing their Nation.

Available roles are

Venue Set-up/Pack-up Crew

  • Construction and placement of event flags
  • Assist with the removal of all PCYC gear at the conclusion of the event
  • Placement of post pads
  • Assist with signage placement
  • Erection of event marquees

Competition Information Desk Staff

  • Welcome all participants and spectators
  • Hand out Tournament Program as people enter the area
  • Answer questions relating to the tournament e.g. where things are etc.
  • Answer any enquires that spectators and/or participants may have

**Car Park Attendants **

  • Supervise where buses and cars park throughout the event
  • Control/monitor access to VIP and disabled parking area
  • Monitor vehicle movements in drop off area

Field Medical Officer

  • Report any incidents to the Medical & Incident Co-ordinator
  • Work with Medical Event Staff to collect information about the injury and
  • participant
  • Assist Medical Event Staff to keep area clear

**Field Supervisors **

  • Supervising the teams entering the fields
  • Preparing the next teams to be ready for the next game
  • Ensure spectators stay off the field during play

General Duty Officers

  • Duty Officers to ensure that all participants and spectators are behaving in an appropriate manner.
  • Remind all spectators and participants to keep their areas clean and clear.
  • Ensure spectators stay off the field

Player Identification

  • Identify team players prior to the games commencing – this includes collecting player ID’s and checking them against the young people entering the field before the game commences
  • hand the ID’s back to the coaches/managers on conclusion of the game

Available volunteer shifts are 6.30am-2.00pm, 9.00am-4.30pm or 12.00pm-7.30pm

We’ll provide training and lunch.
