About the role
The ideal candidate will provide:
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the board in setting and maintaining the strategic direction of Peel ArtsConnect.
- Ensure alignment of programs and initiatives with the organization’s mission to support and promote the arts in the Peel region.
- Facilitate long-term planning and oversee progress toward strategic goals.
Public Representation
- Act as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for Peel ArtsConnect at public events, media engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners, including artists, arts organizations, local government, sponsors, and the broader community.
- Advocate for the value of arts and culture in regional development and community wellbeing.
Governance & Board Leadership
- Chair board meetings, ensuring productive discussion, inclusive participation, and effective decision-making.
- Uphold high standards of governance, transparency, and accountability.
- Support board recruitment, orientation, and succession planning to maintain a diverse and skilled leadership team.
- Collaborate with the Secretary and Treasurer to ensure compliance with legal and financial obligations.
Collaboration & Support
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative board culture.
- Encourage innovation while preserving the organization’s founding values and vision.
Advocacy & Community Engagement
- Champion the arts across the Peel region, promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural diversity.
- Engage with artists and community members to understand needs and opportunities.
- Support fundraising efforts and cultivate donor relationships.
Skills & Attributes
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in the arts, nonprofit, or community sectors.
- Strong understanding of governance principles and board dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for the arts and community development.
- Ability to inspire, mediate, and build consensus.
