Organisation : Special Olympics Melbourne Eastern Ranges
Location : Melbourne
Time required : 3-4 hours per week
Duration of project : 2 year tenure
Skill area : Administration & Office Support
Sector : Disabilities, Sport & Recreation

About the role
Special Olympics Melbourne Eastern Ranges offers sporting activities to people with an intellectual disability. We are an established club which also has the support of our national office in Sydney.
This position is the ‘glue’ between everyone that participates in the running of the club. So the dissemination and distribution of information is one of the key activities both within the club, to SOA, SOV and all other third parties. It is great to note that this role of secretary does not involve minute taking as we have a Minute Secretary.
So how much time does this take? So whilst on a learning curve, it could be 3 to 4 hours per week, however, this varies depending on club activities and the time of year. Computer skills are a bit of a must nowadays, so a reasonable understanding of Microsoft Office goes a long way! The club will discuss computer requirements so that there are the appropriate tools to work with.

Special Olympics Melbourne Eastern Ranges is a well run club with many opportunities for creativity and flexible thinking! Our athletes have a varied skill base so not one size fits all when it comes to communication and activities. Our experienced coaches come up with great ideas and we need a secretary that will help them achieve their goals in getting people motivated and active in various sports.
As said before, it is all about releasing information and ensuring that everyone receives it, read and understands what we are saying.
