About the role

Expressions of Interest are sought for
Australian Feldenkrais Guild Inc Membership Secretariat

The Australian Feldenkrais Guild Inc is a not for profit membership based organisation. We provide services to and represent the interests of Feldenkrais Practitioners in Australia. Activities of the AFG include public relations, promotions, certification, advocacy, training accreditation, international liaison, research and continuing education opportunities. The AFG is substantially a voluntary organisation run by members for members using several commitee based structures to achieve its aims.

The Membership Secretariat supports the National Council of the AFG, its subcommittees, Divisions and members. Activities of the Secretariat include database services, national communications, liaison for website development and bookkeeping services, maintaining communications and relationships with external bodies vital to the promotion of Feldenkrais Method or the livelihoods of Feldenkrais Practitioners.

The tasks and duties involved for the Secretariat require flexible hours, 7-20 hours per week, dependent upon changing workload requirements. It is anticipated that in the first six months the hours will be the greater, for familiarisation, and the establishment of a new website based system. The initial contract will be for one year, with a 4 month probation period. Payment will be calculated on an hourly basis initially, with the intention of moving towards a monthly contract amount. Hourly rates will be negotiated depending on skills and experience.

Applicants will need to demonstrate that they can fulfil essential criteria. Desirable criteria are also listed and will be considered in selecting the most appropriate candidate.

Essential Criteria: You need to demonstrate – excellent liaison and communication skills; ability to prioritise and organise tasks to meet deadlines; excellent and progressive computer skills particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience working in a Not for Profit organisation, or with volunteer committees; and ability to demonstrate consistent attention to detail. It is also essential to have an ABN and appropriate insurance.
In addition, as the AFG is a voluntary organisation it is required that the applicant must provide a computer with reliable internet access, as well as office space to store some AFG resources and files.

Desirable Criteria: Good working knowledge of contemporary committee procedural processes and an interest in contemporary productivity tools. Access to reliable photocopying, and scanning facilities. (The costs of secretarial consumable materials will be remunerated, but not hardware or equipment maintenance). Preference will be given to candidates with an interest and willingness to learn about the Feldenkrais Method including the structure of the community.
