About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for leading and managing the Financial, Risk Management and Corporate Service functions of the organisation. This position has a key strategic role in developing, enhancing, and providing effective and sustainable advice and developing business systems to underpin the successful operations of Travellers Aid. The strategic responsibilities of the role include partnering with the CEO and Leadership Team in influencing and shaping financial plans and advising on future directions to ensure the long-term sustainability of Travellers Aid’s financial and business capabilities.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a well-developed finance professional who has exposure to or experience in managing a corporate services team.  In particular someone who is:

  • Technically strong in end-to-end financial management, you will have proven analytical and forecasting skills and the ability to interpret financials in a commercial way.
  • A strong focus on people leadership is essential and the contribution to a high performing organisation.
  • With further growth on our horizon, this individual has an ability to keep an eye on current organisational requirements and provide strategic input and advice for future needs.
  • The ideal candidate will have a natural partnering style and is collaborative in their approach.
  • A strong can-do attitude is essential and the ability to identify solutions and influence outcomes to achieve strategic goals is paramount.

ESSENTIAL

  • Well-reasoned and analytical thinker who can interpret data and communicate complex financial information to others.
  • Critical thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to understand and interpret data in a commercial way.
  • Proven ability in forecasting with a forward-thinking approach.
  • Proven track record of influencing and negotiating with senior business decision makers.
  • Proven technical financial capability and understanding – both strategically and operationally.
  • A people person who can motivate and mentor others in the Corporate Services team.
  • Maturity, integrity, professionalism and discretion.
  • Excellent IT skills and a deep understanding of the importance of efficient and secure systems and processes.
  • Excellent skills in Xero Accounting software, MS O365 suite of software and other Cloud based software applications, as used by the organisation.
  • Solid time management skills, calmness under pressure and a focus on achieving excellent financial outcomes.

DESIRABLE

  • A working knowledge of corporate services functions such as IT, HR, Risk Management and Administration.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, older people and people from diverse backgrounds.

FORMAL QUALIFICATION

  • Qualifications in Accounting and Finance with experience in financial management and reporting, preferably in the NFP sector.
  • Full unrestricted working rights in Australia

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT

  • Willingness to obtain a current Working with Children Check, National Police Check and International Police Check (if applicable) prior to commencement of employment.
