Make the Invisible Visible Launch Volunteers

Join the Heart Foundation as we kick off a month long campaign to make heart disease visible! Be a part of the visible movement by standing with other Heart Foundation supporters to form a huge heart in the heart of the city.

We are about to launch a month long campaign in June, focused on women’s heart health and wellness called ‘Making the INVISIBLE VISIBLE’. We would love your support and active involvement in the campaign. It’s our pleasure to extend the below invitation to everyone to join us at the launch event on 1 June, as we make a huge heart in the heart of the city for all to see!

Background
Heart disease is the single biggest killer of Australian women – it takes x 3 more lives each year than breast cancer, yet awareness among women is extremely low.

Our June campaign will run under the banner of ‘Making the Invisible Visible’ – as it’s our the intention is to highlight that heart conditions, particularly amongst women, are very much a hidden, yet critical and often life threatening health issue. Women have been under diagnosed, under treated and under researched at every step of the way in their cardiac health.

Fast Facts:

• Heart disease claims 24 female lives every day
• 90% of Australian women have at least one risk factor for heart disease – 50% of all women have two or three risk factors, without even knowing it
• If you are a woman over 40 years old, your chance of having a heart attack before the age of 70 – is one in three.
• Shockingly, 40% of women that have had a heart attack – reported that they did not experience chest pains.
