About the organisation
About the role
The Rule of Law Institute and its sister institute, Australia’s Magna Carta Institute (“Institutes”) are politically non-partisan not-for profit educational organisations dedicated to preserving and promoting the rule of law through imaginative programs in schools and participation in public debates.
The Institutes employ 3 full time educators and casual teachers who co-ordinate the educational programs including school visits, teacher training and the Law Day Out, and a full time Policy Officer that researches current rule of law issues and writes blog entries for ruleoflaw.org.au. In addition, they employ a part time Finance Director.
The Institutes receive significant support from corporate supporters and are looking to develop their educational programs through grants and volunteers. Australia’s Magna Carta Institute is fully endorsed by the ATO for both Charity Tax Concessions and as a Deductible Gift Recipient.
The Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) is responsible to the Board for providing leadership and management of the Institutes and contributing to the continued growth, sustainability and success of the organisation.
The CEO will:
• Develop and drive the implementation of the Strategic Plan as determined by the Board
• Ensure the effective organisational management of the Institutes, including business planning, financial management, human resource management, policy and governance functions.
• Actively pursue fundraising and business development opportunities
• Represent the Institutes in the public sphere, advocating and promoting the Rule of Law and the Magna Carta.
The CEO will report directly to the President of the Board.
