About the role
The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) is seeking a Policy Advisor to drive policy, engagement and advocacy on behalf of VCOSS members, initially on family violence and disability reform.
VCOSS is the peak body of the community sector in Victoria. It raises awareness of the existence, causes and effects of poverty and disadvantage. VCOSS is a unique membership based organisation with a rich history in social justice advocacy in Victoria.
The Policy Advisor will join the VCOSS policy team, reporting to the Policy Manager. The position will identify policy goals and emerging issues, provide high quality public and social policy reports and advice, and work collaboratively with VCOSS staff and member organisations to identify opportunities to strengthen policy development, advocacy, service delivery, capability and partnership opportunities.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a policy or advocacy position, high level written and analytical skills, and a proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders. The position requires relevant tertiary qualifications.
This position is full time. VCOSS offers a number of flexible work conditions to help staff to achieve work-life balance. Salary and conditions of employment are governed by the Victorian Council of Social Service Enterprise Agreement 2014 and VCOSS policies and procedures.
