An exciting full-time leadership opportunity exists for a highly-skilled professional to join the Reach team in our Sydney office.

The vision of The Reach Foundation is that every young person has the support and self belief they need to fulfil their potential and dare to dream. Co-founders Jim Stynes and Paul Currie’s legacy endures through creative and edgy programs delivered for young people by the young Reach Crew, keeping it relevant and real.

Each year 50,000 young people aged 10-18 experience Reach through our youth-led workshops – designed and delivered by our young crew. Our workshops are safe and supportive spaces where teenagers can share stories and experiences honestly, improve their self-awareness, and build deeper more meaningful connections. Independent research has found that Reach can improve the wellbeing of young people by significantly enhancing their feelings of meaning and engagement.

Over the past 22 years, Reach has improved the wellbeing of over 780,000 young people.

The L&D team works very closely with the crew. The L&D team recruit, develop and engage crew and facilitators to deliver Reach’s exceptional programs. The strong capability of Reach crew and facilitators is essential in achieving this high program quality.

WHO ARE THE CREW?

The Reach Crew is a group of young people who are committed to creating, designing, and delivering experiences for other young people to learn more about themselves and connect with others. The Reach Crew consists of both volunteers and casual employees.

WHO ARE YOU?

You are an experienced and passionate professional who will embrace and bring to life the essence of Reach through our crew. As Manager, L&D NSW you will hold direct management responsibility for recruiting, developing and maintaining engagement of all of Reach’s Sydney and Hunter region Facilitators, Facilitators-in-Training and crew (working for Reach in a casual or voluntary capacity).

Some of the key selection criteria for this role are (see attached position description for full details):

  1. Highly desirable: Tertiary qualification in a discipline relating to human development
  2. Preferred: Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  3. Experience working with/in partnership with young people
  4. Knowledge, interest and understanding of issues that affect youth
  5. IT confidence with social media skills
  6. Passion for growth and learning
  7. Growth mindset, with ability to get results from yourself and others
  8. Willingness to share own journey and experiences
  9. Demonstrated ability to work with flexibility and adaptability in a changing and complex environment
  10. Strong relationship skills and leadership capabilities
  11. Experience in project management and team coordination
  12. Having the right to live and work in Australia.
