Authentic Leadership

Details

Key benefits

Challenging conventional assumptions about leadership, this transformative workshop will help you take control of your career. It will increase your readiness for new career opportunities.

Participants will learn to shift their leadership focus from “I” to “we”, discovering that authentic leadership is about leading by example and empowering others.

Feedback from previous participants includes increased personal and professional clarity and focus, with improved performance and productivity – for themselves and their teams.

Course details

Over two days, Professor Born will guide participants through case studies, individual exercises, debates and small-group discussions. There will be interactive discussions, industry presentations and case studies using real-world public sector examples. Each participant will create a leadership purpose statement to launch his or her own “true north” development plan.

A small amount of pre-course work is recommended.

Authentic Leadership content will include:

Who are you?
Where are you headed?
Self-awareness
Values, principles and ethical boundaries
Integrated life and support team
Courageous conversations
Empowering others to lead
Your leadership purpose.
The program also includes a panel session with esteemed public sector leaders Paris Aristotle and Carmel Arthur.

Paris Aristotle AM is the Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc., also known as Foundation House. He is also the 2017 Victorian National Finalist for Australian of the Year. Carmel Arthur is the Manager Strategic Planning and Projects – Infrastructure, Victoria Police. She is the 2015 recipient of the Most Outstanding Female Practitioner Award, Australasia (Excellence in Policing Awards).

Carmel and Paris join Dana for a frank discussion of their leadership journeys and how their life experiences have shaped their professional choices.
