CatholicCare’s OOHC program delivers an accredited integrated model which underpins therapeutic care principles to deliver effective, flexible and high quality care for the Children and Young People in Residential Care.
The Direct Care Workers key responsibilities include:
• Direct care of children and young people in the OOHC program including foster care clients, foster carers and birth families
• Build rapport with the clients and provide support and advocacy for the young people in care
• Provide direct care, which includes household duties, administrative tasks and building relationships.
• Maintain records and reports and participate as a team member in the development, implementation and evaluation of operational case plans
The key requirements for this role are:
• Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area such as Social Welfare or Community Service (preferred Diploma level or working towards)
• Understanding of Child and Adolescent Development
• Knowledge of current Child Protection and other relevant legislation
• A current, valid, Australian driver’s licence
• A current working with children’s clearance check
As this role involves a 24 hours care 7 days a week roster staff must be available for a variety of shifts that include overnight stays.
