Financial Counsellor – Part time

• Salary packaging is offered with this ongoing, part-time (22.8h/w) position, based at Box Hill
The Position:
Provide financial counselling across the inner and outer eastern catchments. Undertake central intake and triage service for financial counselling clients in the inner east. Conduct thorough assessment processes that ensures that clients receive a prompt and efficient service. Integration with state-wide telephone financial counselling service (MoneyHelp)
To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioral sciences at degree level with substantial experience; or associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream, or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
• Be a full member of the Financial and Consumer Rights Council
• Hold a Diploma of Community Services – Financial Counselling and have a minimum of 6 months experience in financial counselling
• Knowledge of the relevant legislation and information pertaining to financial issues or any other para legal experience
• Be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills independently, but also able to work effectively and co-operatively in a team environment
• Sound written communication, analytical, and problem solving abilities
• Knowledge of relevant services, alongside of well-developed communication and negotiating skills, including sensitivity to issues of confidentiality, gender, cultural background, disability, age, and sexuality in dealing with those experiencing severe financial difficulties
