About the organisation
At Orange Sky we focus on the provision of free mobile laundry and shower services for people experiencing homelessness. Since the start of Orange Sky in 2014, we have rapidly expanded to almost every capital city across Australia, and, with the support of over 600 volunteers, we are able to achieve our mission of positively connecting communities through genuine conversation every day.

Who are we?
At Orange Sky Australia, we created the world’s first free mobile laundry for people experiencing homelessness. Together, our volunteers and friends on the street have shared 48,000 hours of positive and genuine conversation, making Orange Sky Australia an absolute goldmine of creative content!
Chief Storyteller and Rainmaker… come again?
If you break the title down, we’re looking for a talented wordsmith to create meaningful and high impact stories that connect with our donors and supporters (and make it rain!). As our Chief Storyteller and Rainmaker, you’ll deliver high quality, high impact ideas and content to help Australians, donors and supporters understand the issue of homelessness and inspire them to engage with our work. You’ll skilfully weave stories into the grant proposals you write and come up with creative ways to recognise all of our donors, no matter how big or small the contribution.
As the chief storyteller and rainmaker you will:
- research, write and compile a bank of stories for strategic communications;
- identify and manage a pipeline of potential funding opportunities;
- prepare and submit high quality funding proposals using storytelling;
- develop impactful resources for people who fundraise on our behalf; and
- give all our supporters an amazing experience with Orange Sky Australia.
Are we looking for you?
In an organisation this innovative it’s no surprise we’re looking for someone with lots of ideas, imagination and a passion for their work. To become our chief storyteller and rainmaker you will have excellent writing, researching, proofreading and editorial skills, including experience writing for different audiences (preferably donors or supporters of a cause). Your storytelling experience will be complemented by your outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to explain complex issues in accessible language. To set yourself apart from others you will also have experience coordinating projects and collaborating with a very diverse range of stakeholders.
