About the organisation
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is a statutory authority, established in 2011. Its mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of Victorians by working with communities and government to deliver effective, evidence-based initiatives to prevent gambling harm and provide support for those seeking help. The Foundation uses a public health approach to focus on prevention, early intervention and support for those who may experience gambling harm. The Foundation works across Victoria.
Harm from gambling can happen much earlier than people realise and affect the health, wellbeing and financial security of even those who gamble infrequently. By partnering with others, the Foundation is working to raise awareness of gambling harm and provide access to a range of effective treatment and support. It also provides policy advice across government. Prevention initiatives include state-wide advertising campaigns and community programs and work with venues to help create safer gambling environments. The Foundations role extends to providing the latest information to community groups, local government and the public about gambling and its regulation in Victoria. The Foundation is committed to a Victoria free from gambling related harm.
About the role
- Share your gambling experiences and help make a difference
- Lived Experience Advisory Committee
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is looking for individuals from across Victoria who are willing to share their expertise as people who have experienced harm from their own gambling or through others, such as a family member.
If this sounds like you, we would be pleased to hear from you.
For the first time the Foundation is establishing a Lived Experience Advisory Committee, chaired by a Foundation Board member, to assist in all aspects of our work and contribute to reducing gambling related harm.
Committee members will make a meaningful contribution by providing an ongoing voice for people who have personal experience of gambling harm in relation to:
- planning and implementation of services for Victorians affected by gambling harm
- gambling harm prevention strategies, project proposals, communication strategies and related materials
- research priorities and proposals
Starting in October, the Committee will meet four times per year at our North Melbourne offices and members will be paid in recognition of their time and contribution.
