PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Woodville Alliance (WA) provides a wide-range of inclusive options for adults with disabilities, that seek to maximise people’s social capital and local citizenship. We provide diverse service offerings which are co-designed with WA clients and their circle of support to ensure that every individual meets their expected outcomes. WA Disability Services utilises a positive and strength-based approach within a well-developed culture of person-centred practices. WA is an NDIS Registered Provider and is an ISO accredited organisation.

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Reporting directly to the CEO, the primary objectives of the General Manager, Disability Services (GM DS) are to provide leadership as well as strategic, operational and change-related management of WA Disability Services. Additionally, the role includes developing new business opportunities, including social enterprise, partnerships and relationships to enable the growth of services. Furthermore, ongoing implementation of best practice, management of financially sustainable services are critical components of the role. WA will be opening its first Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in the coming months, which will be a primary focus of the successful incumbent.

 

MAIN DUTIES – including but not limited to;

  • Provide leadership and support to the Disability Service Manager in the day to day operations of our Disability programs, mentoring and leading the Disability Services team and cultivating a culture of quality and inclusion.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, workforce planning, performance management and staff development activities when required to ensure the provision of safe, high quality and financially viable disability services
  • Contribute to leadership and strategy across WA, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Plan, implement and evaluate services and programs ensuring the promotion of client choice, person centred practice and NDIS Quality & Safeguards requirements. Additionally, effective risk assessment and risk management strategies are implemented.
  • Ensure and contribute to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance, consistent with ISO 9001 (2015), NDIS Quality & Safeguards and WA policy, is actively supported and implemented in all program areas and that external accreditation/registration is achieved
  • Maintain high standards of communication and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, in particular ensuring that clients and their families feel supported and heard and that effective methods for collecting and addressing feedback are facilitated
  • In collaboration with relevant members of the SLT, develop, manage and regularly review the annual Disability Services budget and other financial resources to reflect WA mission, vision and values and Strategic Plan
  • Understand and effectively execute NDIS reporting obligations including reportable incidents and authorised/unauthorised use of restrictive practices
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practice and regulatory changes in order to apply an innovative and entrepreneurial eye to the development of any new services, opportunities or partnerships including social enterprise

CRITERIA (please refer to the PD for the full list of essential criteria)

  1. Degree qualifications in a related human services field
  2. Leadership and senior management experience in the Disability sector, including staff, financial and change management and effective resource management
  3. Extensive experience in the provision of person-centred disability services and high-level knowledge and understanding of the quality standards pertaining to the provision of disability services within the NDIS framework
  4. An understanding of the needs and considerations of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse clients and their families
  5. Commitment to social justice principles and the rights of people with a disability
  6. A current NSW Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check
  7. Desirable criteria: Management and working knowledge of Supported Independent Living (SIL)
