The Victims Support Worker is an integral role that provides support and information to victims of violent crime. - Opportunity to support victims ofviolent crime in the Northern Metropolitan region
Your new role
As a Victims Support Worker you will be responsible for:
– Providing practical supprt and case management services for victims of violent crime including assessment, care plan development, advocacy, education and referral
– Undertaking initial needs assessment including urgency of need, risk and follow-up assessments and actions
– Providing a range of mental health and wellbeing supports on a continuum including psychological first aid and safety planning
– Liaising with internal and external services to maintain relevant links and networks to strengthen services to victims of violent crime
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful with Merri you will go above and beyond to achieve great results for our clients, the organisation and yourself. We’re looking for individuals with:
– Tertiary qualification in social work or other related discipline
– Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, intake, risk assessment and referral
– Demonstrated casework and/or case management experience
– Sound knowledge base and demonstrated experience working with trauma and recovery
