“Fundamental to the social fabric of our nation, our community and the health of us all”

The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse was formally announced in October 2021 on the third anniversary of the National Apology to Victims and Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse. The formation of the National Centre is a result of key recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The Centre will be survivor-focussed incorporating the voice and lived expertise of survivors of all life stages, backgrounds and communities. It will work in collaboration with major research institutions, state and commonwealth governments, service providers, schools, and law enforcement agencies.

The Centre is driven by leading expert organisations, Blue Knot Foundation, The Healing Foundation, and the Australian Childhood Foundation forming an Australia-first partnership that will commission critical research, raise community awareness, reduce stigma, and build capacity around policy, practice and services  to support improved responses to victims and survivors and prevent child sexual abuse from occurring in the first place.

The Role

As a key member of the Centre’s leadership team you will lead the research, evaluation and knowledge generation agenda, delivering thought leadership and resources, and commissioning key research projects of national significance.

Via collaboration and partnerships you will build capacity and research capability, create and collate diverse forms of knowledge and drive evaluations of effective programs and responses.

Embedding a robust evaluation framework this role will build the evidence base on the prevention of child sexual abuse and trauma-informed culturally sensitive responses to survivors.

Skills Required

You have demonstrable commitment to social equity and a drive to create a fairer and more inclusive Australia, with an in-depth knowledge of child sexual abuse, child protection and victim/survivor impacts.

You inspire, mentor and supervise staff and contractors, building and leading a cohesive high functioning team.

You have high level expertise and experience in the development and implementation of evaluation processes, qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis skills, and the capacity to problem solve and negotiate successful outcomes in challenging circumstances.

If playing a major part in this watershed time for our country giving a voice to the experiences of survivors of all ages, life stages and communities then please submit your expression of interest including a cover letter responding to the skills required above and a resume.
