Employment Type: Full-time

The Opportunity

The External Relations, Development and Alumni (ERDA) portfolio forms part of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, and is responsible for the advancement of Monash University’s mission and strategic priorities through externally-focused engagement, initiating and delivering partnerships of value and impact, that draw on our exceptional research and learning capabilities.

Aligned with the University’s new strategic plan Impact 2030 Monash is embarking on an exciting period of change and is investing in building internal capability, coordination as we look to address the challenges of the age and deliver programs of scale and impact in partnership with philanthropy, government, industry and community.

To that end, we are now seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Deputy Director, Programmatic Partnerships, to work closely with the Senior Director, Development – and in partnership with dedicated senior team members across Research, Education and Enterprise portfolios – to identify and drive forward new major multi-partner impact driven and mission led programmatic opportunities – with relevant combinations of philanthropy, government and industry.

This includes increasing the value and impact of existing funding partnerships of scale while also identifying and growing the pipeline of bilateral and multilateral impact partnerships with a focus on new and innovative models of funding such as venture philanthropy.

Working as part of a highly skilled cohort and with senior leaders across the University, the incumbent will play a critical role in the development of large scale, major research and education funding collaborations through a life-cycle comprising phases of ideation, co-design, value-creation, feasibility (inc. revenue investment, ROI, sustainability and outcomes), consortia governance, program delivery and partnership management. This includes leading or supporting the conceptualisation, development and negotiation of partnership proposals of a complex nature. Indicative $10m+.

Suited to a highly motivated and experienced individual, the successful applicant will play a key leadership role in maximising Monash’s stated impact priorities and position Monash as an exceptional and truly international university with scale and reach. You will be required to successfully operate on a cross-portfolio basis to progress opportunities that are unique to Monash’s capabilities and thus bring a competitive advantage to seeking ‘best in class’ funding partners.

If this sounds like your next step and you are eager to make a tangible positive impact then we look forward to hearing from you.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
