Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA) is a public company limited by guarantee governed by a Board of Directors (7 elected, 2 independent) and managed by a Chief Executive Officer in accordance with the powers delegated to the position by the Board under the Constitution of Allied Health Professions Australia.
AHPA is Australia’s peak allied health body currently comprising national allied health professional associations as Ordinary Members and other organisations closely related to allied health as affiliate members.
The CEO leads a small team (3.5 FTE) of staff currently located in a serviced office (open planned) in Melbourne but with significant levels of remote working.
About the role
Position purpose
The CEO is responsible for positioning allied health as an essential element in health, disability, aged care systems and any other areas where the diverse range of allied health professionals work. The CEO will build the reputation and profile of AHPA, working with the Policy and Advocacy Manager in advocating nationally for allied health, ensuring financial sustainability, managing the staff team to ensure effective and efficient operations, and providing consistent high-level advice and information to the Board and operationalising the strategic plan.
In this role you will
- Work with the Board to develop and deliver a clear strategic direction and strategy for the organisation
- Strengthen the profile of AHPA and allied health professions
- Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively execute the strategic outcomes
- Provide collaborative leadership, support and strong direction of a committed team of staff, fostering a high-performance culture
- Identify new revenue opportunities through the development of strategically beneficial relationships with new and existing partners
- Manage all business operations, including financial and operational management
Selection Criteria:
- Good knowledge of the Australian health, disability and aged care systems
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Experience or knowledge of association or membership organisations
- Comprehensive understanding of the allied health professions;
- Sound understanding of the Australian Government bureaucracy and relevant policy settings;
- Capability in high level strategic planning;
- High level financial management skills;
- Strong governance knowledge and skills; and
- Well developed oral and written advocacy and spokesperson skills.
