About the organisation
The Australian Women's Health Network (AWHN) provides a national voice on women’s health. It provides a woman-centred analysis of all models of health and medical care and research in recognition that women’s health is a key social, cultural, environmental, and political issue. AWHN has representatives from across Australia in all States and Territories with a membership base which includes organisations and individuals.
The Australian Government Department of Health investment in preventative health has enabled funding for a project under Health Peak and Advisory Bodies Program funding. This role will manage the project, including facilitating project outcomes and reporting.

About the role
Role purpose
This project will work with our members and other key stakeholders to develop a series of primary prevention resources, including publications and training materials, hosted in a refreshed online resource hub. It will involve strategic national partnerships, online engagement, collaboration and user experience, publication, communications and promotion.
This work will be aligned with the National Preventative Health Strategy which aims to prevent illness, disease and injury, together with the National Women’s Health Strategy. We will develop gender informed primary prevention with an equity lens, considering how prevention can more effectively integrate with health policy and programs.
Role objectives
Work with AWHN to:
- Research, develop, pilot and collaborate to refine compelling evidence based materials such as policy publications, briefings and reports.
- Facilitate website content development, including development of online training materials.
- Coordinate a series of national online engagement activities including roundtables and user experience sessions.
- Assist with public affairs and media communications, including developing media releases and briefs.
- Project manage the Health Peak and Advisory Bodies Program work plan.
- Foster a diversity of strategic individual and organisational partnerships that enable project outcomes.
- Contribute to organisational and project risk identification and mitigation.
- Embed and express AWHN’s values throughout our work.
Selection criteria
A preferred candidate would hold some or all of the below criteria:
- Postgraduate level education in public health, public policy, or equivalent.
- Experience studying or working in a relevant technical area such as gender equity, health equity, women’s health, violence prevention or sexual and reproductive health.
- Experience facilitating projects or programs with multiple stakeholders in hybrid online/offline environments.
- Experience facilitating engagement activities online, such as co-design activities, user experience workshops or collaborative content development.
- Professional writing skills, articulate verbal and non-verbal communication, with strong attention to detail.
- Research skills, including academic literature searches and assessing evidence.
- Experience developing online content including report writing, policy publications or professional development materials.
- An understanding of and willingness for ongoing learning about cultural safety, trauma informed approaches, anti-discrimination and reconciliation action.
- Confidence working autonomously with strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
The successful candidate will require eligibility to work in Australia.
