Music & Opera Singers Trust (MOST) is offering a part-time opportunity for an Events & Communications Assistant. Hours will be 9am-5pm, Tuesday to Thursday. Additional hours will be required several times a year due to weekend and evening events (candidate must be available to work Friday 21 July; Sunday 23 July; Monday 24 July & night of 31 August and potentially others). Salary is pro-rata.
The start date for this role is 30 May 2023. Interviews will be available Tuesday and Wednesday only.

What does it take to work at MOST?
You are a self-motivated admin wiz with the ability to write engaging, clear prose. You are proactive and enjoy being the most efficient person in the room. You feel confident meeting new people and can assertively contribute to meetings and strategy discussions. You are happy to work on tasks outside your job description and are comfortable working closely with a small team of colleagues.
You will work on a variety of activities involved in running a classical singing competition, an instrumental competition, an Indigenous oral history award and other arts projects. The bulk of the work is office admin. You will also be expected to perform some PA duties for the CEO.
Due to the seasonal nature of our work, it is usually not possible to take holiday leave from April to October (excepting short breaks).
What does success look like in this role?
Within your first 3 months, you will be fully up to speed with MOST’s software, systems and processes and you will be working effectively as part of the team on a number of projects.
Within your first 6 months, you will be confident in your ability to interact with stakeholders and suppliers. You will feel comfortable working unsupervised. 12 months and beyond, you will be self-managed and accountable for the tasks you take on and a knowledgeable and valued member of the team.
This job would suit someone looking for a long-term, stable job with a small and close-knit team. You must be comfortable working in a small office with repetitive tasks.
Essential criteria:
- high-level copywriting skills to assist in the preparation of online content, funding grants, printed programmes, scripts, correspondence and other written material including the drafting of board documents such as agendas and accurate minutes;
- project and time-management skills – in particular, the ability to balance multiple tasks with competing timelines and priorities;
- strong attention to detail with excellent proof-reading skills;
- experience with digital marketing and the management of social media platforms. The Office & Events Assistant is expected to create and manage social content/ideas on a daily basis and to develop and expand community engagement;
- event experience including familiarity with the procurement, management & briefing of external suppliers such as consultants, videographers and photographers;
- ability to work as part of a very small team;
- ability to work calmly under pressure and to thrive on creative challenges;
- willingness to take direction.
Desirable:
- desire to work long-term in the role;
- familiarity with CRM database systems;
- knowledge of Apple Mac operating systems and Mac–based applications;
- musical and arts knowledge and interest;
- familiarity with WordPress and Campaign Monitor;
- familiarity with technical aspects of events (lighting and sound);
- familiarity with European languages.
