About the organisation

Organisation Name : TRACTION For Young People

About the role

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to lead a young, dynamic, and growing not-for-profit organisation that is empowering young people to build their own positive future. Providing opportunities for young people through mentoring and hands-on learning programs designed to build confidence and skills, TRACTION delivers programs that drive transformational change. Through partnering with referral agencies such as schools and government agencies, TRACTION engages young people in innovative, early intervention and prevention programs in a workshop environment with trained mentors to experience a sense of success. TRACTION programs have reached more than 2400 young people since 2015 and helped young people achieve powerful outcomes including increased confidence and resilience, hope for the future and increased engagement with school, family, and friends.

Through a balance of strategy, operational strength and collaboration, the role will maintain the organisation’s internal culture and build on its many strong existing relationships and partnerships. You will need acute business acumen and ingenuity to devise original ways to adapt and sustainably grow the organisation into the future.

It is essential that you can work closely with the board. You need to be skilled at the diversification of funding sources, be financially and data savvy, bring entrepreneurial knowhow and have excellent influencing skills.

A compassionate pragmatist with a friendly, supportive can-do approach, you have admirable soft skills that enable you to relate with all people at all levels and a leadership style that inspires others to want to be part of your team and work in support of the organisation’s plans. You will have a proven leadership style that fosters collaboration, inclusiveness and motivates a team of professional and committed staff. High level emotional intelligence, interpersonal and communication skills will be essential along with successful experience in partnering with business, community organisations, philanthropic organisations, and government service providers to provide pathways for young people.
