For over 50 years, Playgroup NSW has delivered and linked families to vital services such as parent support groups and playgroups for those experiencing vulnerability and diversity, and those who value community connections. Thousands of families connect via playgroup sessions affiliated with or delivered by Playgroup NSW every week, building their parental capacity, and their village and helping their children learn.
About the role
Working as part of the Community and Volunteer Engagement team, this newly created role is primarily responsible for establishing quality programs that will support parents and caregivers who have children under 5 to connect with the older generation, with the aim of bringing together the young and young at heart and to build relationships through play.
To be considered for this role it is essential that you have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the Aged Care system and in intergenerational practice and playgroup models.
Other key responsibilities include but not limited to;
- Support Playgroup NSW’s intergenerational strategy in line with funding requirements and business needs.
- Develop the Timeless Play offering, across multiple delivery and engagement models.
- Provide intergenerational program recommendations based on knowledge, experience and industry best practices.
- Identify and engage with relevant stakeholders, such as aged care providers, councils, government, community organisations.
- Develop presentations, and marketing collateral that document benefits and offerings of intergenerational play.
- Attend forums, interagency groups, expos and other relevant events to promote Playgroup NSW’s intergenerational programs.
- Work on strategies to engage and retain volunteers
- Scope and leverage existing intergenerational resources within Playgroup NSW and the broader playgroup network, and within the intergenerational sector
- Develop webinars, manuals and training as required to support intergenerational expansion and service delivery.
- Provide practical support to establish and model intergenerational playgroups and practice, including in venues and facilities.
- Embed best practice into intergenerational playgroup models, including the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Promote the benefits of intergenerational practice and provide the necessary support the implementation of a successful program
- Understand the funding requirements for Playgroup NSW’s intergenerational Playgroups
- Contribute in establishing budget parameters for intergenerational initiatives.
- Provide regularly reporting for funding bodies
- Identify, evaluate, and make recommendations for quality improvement initiatives.
About you
To ensure you succeed in the role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Qualifications or relevant experience in Health and Community Services, Aged Care, Early Childhood, Social Work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in community development and project management, and successful implementation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in intergenerational practice and playgroup models.
- Knowledge of the aged care system.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working with and engaging volunteers.
- High level verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstration of attention to detail and accuracy of data in communications and reporting.
- An innovative and creative approach to developing programs
- Strong MS suite skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams and other applications, tools and databases.
- A current Working with Children (Employee) Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
Experience as Lifestyle coordinator or a Supervisor/Manager within the aged care sector would be highly desirable.
