Time required : Boards meetings are 2 hours every second month, with a one hour finance subcommittee held on a monthly basis, plus a minimal amount of ad hoc communications with our Bookeeper or CEO.

About the role

Join Our Board! We’re actively recruiting a dedicated Treasurer to volunteer their financial expertise at CISVic. As a key Board member, you’ll play an essential role in driving sustainable change, ensuring we continue to support disadvantaged Victorians. This hands-on, volunteer role offers the opportunity to shape our organisation’s future while making a real impact in the community. Ready to make a difference? We want to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For:
• A strong commitment to CISVic’s vision, mission, and values.
• Proven experience in financial oversight and governance within the not-for-profit sector.
• The ability to lead discussions on financial performance, risk analysis, forecasting, and accountability.
• Availability to participate regularly in Board and Subcommittee meetings, and liaise with the CEO.

Meetings are held online, during business hours. There are occasional face to face events, such as CISVic’s end of year celebration.

Community Information & Support Victoria Inc (CISVic) is the peak body for Victoria’s community information and support sector. We work through our 55 member agencies—operating across 44 local government areas—to assist individuals and families facing financial hardship, housing stress, and other complex challenges. Our agencies deliver vital services such as information and referral, emergency relief, financial counselling, and advocacy, ensuring that vulnerable Victorians receive the support they need.

Our funding model is underpinned by substantial grants from the federal Department of Social Services, Victorian State departments, and local councils, complemented by donations and other income streams. For the year ending 30 June 2024, we achieved a surplus of $76,318 and maintained strong net assets of $944,253, with healthy cash reserves to support our ongoing operations.

As a not-for-profit registered charity with DGR and PBI status, CISVic adheres to stringent financial and governance standards in line with Australian regulations. Our Board is comprised of skilled community representatives committed to transparency and effective financial oversight. As Treasurer, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in steering our financial strategy and ensuring sustainability, directly impacting our capacity to deliver essential support to disadvantaged Victorians.
