CityLife Church (formerly Waverley Christian Fellowship) originated with a small group of people meeting together to learn about God beginning in 1967. CityLife Church has since grown and become home to thousands of Christians from a variety of backgrounds, age groups and cultures and is one church in many multi-site locations. The role

Working closely with the Board and the Multi-Site Leadership team, the Senior Minister is responsible for the strategic direction and spiritual health of the church and its various ministries.  The Senior Minister also provides leadership to and oversees development of staff and volunteers to help further develop their gifts and potential. The Senior Minister takes the primary oversight role for the spiritual feeding of the congregations through preaching and teaching across all their church sites.

The Senior Minister is also responsible for developing relationships with key influencers in the community and creating vital links to other churches, ministries and organisations outside of the local congregation.

About you

We are seeking a visionary and strategic thinker, who seeks God, with the ability to set, execute and adapt strategy. The successful candidate will have demonstrated spiritual gifts and ministry and have a heart for leading, coaching and developing teams across several church ministries. Alignment with CityLife’s Pentecostal doctrinal theology is critical, with a proven capacity for theological reflection andan ability to work in a reporting relationship to an active Board.

We are seeking an experienced leader who has demonstrated skills in equipping, mentoring, and developing others. Of critical importance, this person will have highly developed communication skills, with the ability to teach, preach and coach other leaders in these areas. With a highly developed servant leadership style, the successful candidate will be skilled in navigating cross-cultural experiences and sensitivities, building networks and external relationships.

The Senior Minister will have demonstrated commercial capability and proven experience in growing people-based / member-based organisations and navigating complex matters. They will have previous experience in working collaboratively across several ministries and operational support areas to ensure the effective running of a large church or organisation. It is essential that the Senior Minister hold formal qualifications in Christian ministry and/or theology and can demonstrate a life submitted to Christ through lifestyle choices, words and practice. Previous experience in a Senior Minister role and/or a multi-site church context will be highly regarded for this key role.
