About the Role
The Community Sport and Recreation Coach is responsible for delivering culturally sensitive, engaging, and inclusive sport and recreation programs to diverse groups of people. The role involves facilitating a range of structured, inclusive and fun sport and recreation activities that promote physical well-being, teamwork, and leadership, while addressing the unique cultural needs of participants.
This position will contribute to the empowerment, development, and integration of participants from various cultural backgrounds, helping them build confidence, social connections, and life skills. This is a vital role in managing stakeholder and participant relationships by delivering high standard programs.
This is a casual position, based in Logan with community/outreach – primary/secondary and community hubs (coverage across Southeast Queensland (Brisbane City, Logan City, Ipswich and Gold Coast LGAs)

Essential Criteria:
- Minimum Qualification: Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation or equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Community Development, or related field
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) in Queensland
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Deep understanding of cultural diversity and inclusion principles
- Ability to communicate effectively across different cultural contexts
- Sensitivity to cultural nuances and potential barriers to participation
- Extensive knowledge of various sports and recreational activities
- Ability to modify activities for different skill levels and abilities
- Strong understanding of sports coaching principles and techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Active listening and empathy
- Strong group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
- Skills in curriculum development for sports and recreation
- Ability to design inclusive and engaging program content
- Proficiency in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness
- Proficient in using digital tools and software for program management
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities
- Basic data analysis and reporting skills
