The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is the voice for Australia’s oceans. About the role
The Campaign Communications Specialist works as an integral part of the Sharks and Rays campaign team to design and execute comprehensive communications strategies and plans that support the protection and recovery of Australia’s sharks and rays. The role is key to building public support and momentum for stronger protections, helping to halt the decline of vulnerable species and support their recovery.
The position works across three priority projects:

Protecting Sawfish in the Northern Territory

Protecting the Maugean Skate

Protecting Endemic Sharks and Rays in the South East
It requires close collaboration with AMCS campaigners, communications and digital staff, partners, subject matter experts, community groups, and creative agencies to deliver compelling, targeted and effective communications that drive impact
This role involves:
- Developing and executing tailored communications strategies and detailed implementation plans to support campaign objectives.
- Leading direct marketing initiatives utilising the AMCS Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and digital tools to engage supporters and expand project visibility.
- Overseeing the creation and curation of engaging content and campaign collateral that effectively communicates key messages across digital and other channels.
- Working closely with the Shark Campaign Manager and NT Community Campaigner to build and nurture grassroots community networks to support conservation initiatives.
- Building strong relationships and networks, and working closely and collaboratively with campaign partners to grow the impact and influence of the campaign’s communications.
