About the role
We are currently seeking a new Committee (Board) Member to contribute to our strategic direction and governance.
Previous experience on a not-for-profit board or committee is welcomed but not essential. We are especially interested in hearing from people who:
- Have a disability or care for someone with a disability
- Bring professional qualifications or experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Marketing

- Information Technology
-
- Human Resources
-
- Law
-
- Community or Disability Services
We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
As a Committee Member, you will:
- Attend and actively contribute to board meetings (held online every six weeks)
- Participate in approximately two in-person planning or training sessions per year
- Collaborate with other board members and the senior leadership team
- Help identify and address governance and strategic challenges
- Support our mission to build inclusion, community connection, and meaningful support
This is a volunteer position with an initial three-year term.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Volunteer Working with Children Check
- Provide proof of identity
- Complete our eLearning induction modules
About the organisation
Extended Families Australia is a Melbourne based not-for-profit organisation that has supported people with disabilities and their families for nearly 50 years. Our offices are in Coburg and Box Hill. We are proud of our history in helping individuals live the lives they choose, feel included, and connect meaningfully with their communities and support networks.
