You’re invited to TFN Live Brisbane on 11 June, a high-impact live crowdfunding event where you can directly support three grassroots changemakers based in Queensland doing incredible work in the community.
At this event, you will get the chance to hear six-minute pitches and inspiring stories from:
- Library For All – an organisation delivering high quality, culturally-diverse books and educational reading material to communities in need.
- Outback Futures – a NFP providing regular, professional and consistent mental and allied health and wellbeing services to rural and remote Queenslanders.
- Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness – a charity supporting parents to increase their confidence and capability through mental health support, education and social inclusion activities.
Refreshments and canapés will be generously provided by our event partner Deloitte. Tickets are limited, so book your spot now to be part of this powerful collective movement.
Library For All
Library For All delivers high quality, culturally-diverse books and educational reading material to communities in need. Learning to read should be a basic right for every child, but with limited access to reading material, millions of children around the world are not reaching basic literacy standards. Library For All addresses this by filling resource gaps in regions where history, poverty or remoteness prevents access to books. With a freely available e-book library app and printed editions on demand, Library For All aims to make knowledge available to all equally. Find out more: libraryforall.org.au
Meet the presenter: Rebecca McDonald, Founder and CEO
Rebecca McDonald is the founder and CEO of Library For All, which she created after moving to Haiti to help rebuild after the devastating 2010 earthquake. She previously worked in construction, where she managed a $1 billion low-income housing program. Rebecca was also an ambassador for Opportunity International for eight years.
Outback Futures
Outback Futures provides regular, professional and consistent mental and allied health and wellbeing services to rural and remote Queenslanders. By taking a unique approach of community facilitation, Outback Futures captures individual contributions to transforming the local community and creates relationships on a foundation of trust. In partnering with rural communities to educate and support locals, the ultimate goal is to equip people to advocate for their own mental health and wellbeing in the long term. Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness
In Queensland, suicide is the leading cause of indirect maternal death, with 1 in 5 new mothers and 1 in 10 new fathers experiencing postnatal depression. Peach Tree supports parents to increase their parenting confidence and capability through providing mental health support, parenting and mental health education, and social inclusion activities for individuals and couples during the pregnancy and early parenthood period. Meet the presenter: Viv Kissane, CEO
Viv founded Peach Tree in 2011 after her own personal experience of perinatal mental illness and realising that there was a lack of perinatal mental health services available in the community. She is a passionate advocate for perinatal and infant mental health, and a Board member of the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health.
