TFN Live Melbourne – Live Crowdfunding for Social Changemakers

Details

We believe in using the collective power of people to solve society’s most pressing challenges. We connect people who care with organisations doing good. Join us on this journey.

You’re invited to TFN Live Melbourne, a high-impact live crowdfunding event where you can directly support three incredible grassroots changemakers.

Come along on May 14 for the chance to hear six-minute pitches and inspiring stories from three organisations that are running innovative programs to upskill people for success:

Lively –  a social enterprise which connects older and young Australians to tackle social issues experienced on both ends of the age spectrum

e.motion21 – an organisation empowering children and young people living with Down syndrome through dance/fitness classes and a work readiness program

Code Like a Girl – an organisation looking to inspire new generations of girls to acquire coding as a skill through its coding camps, internships and events

Refreshments and canapés will be generously provided by our event partner Accenture. Tickets are limited, so book your spot now to be part of an unforgettable evening of collective giving.

Lively

In Australia, four in 10 older people report feeling lonely, isolated and disconnected. Meanwhile, 13 per cent of young Australians are struggling to find work. Lively is a social enterprise which seeks to connect both older and young Australians in a bid to tackle these issues experienced on both ends of the age spectrum. Lively trains and employs young jobseekers to spend time with older people, helping them learn how to use technology to stay connected – increasing social connectedness of older people, and providing young job seekers with work that is both meaningful and rewarding. Meet the presenter: Anna Donaldson, CEO, Lively
Anna Donaldson started Lively after seeing first-hand how many older Australians live in loneliness and isolation. At the same time, she was concerned by youth unemployment and the number of young people she knew who couldn’t get a foot in the door due to lack of experience. She founded Lively to connect and address these two issues, and to build a more age friendly community. Anna is passionate about bringing fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm to Australia’s aged care system.

e.motion21

e.motion21 supports children and young people living with Down syndrome across Victoria with a combination of evidence-backed dance and fitness classes, and a 12-month work readiness program called Impact21. Through these combined approaches, emotion.21 looks to enhance the lives of young people with Down syndrome and change perceptions of Down syndrome in society. Find out more: emotion21.org.au

Meet the presenter: Jane Burns, CEO, e.motion21
Jane is the CEO of e.motion21 and is passionate about working with people to make the world a better, more accepting place. Jane has three children; Angus, Holly and Harry. Angus who has Down syndrome, Autism, and is non-verbal, has been instrumental in shaping the way Jane works with people. Prior to joining e.motion21, she was the founder and CEO of the Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre, founder of InnoWell and is Chair of STREAT and Open Arms – Veterans Families Counselling.

Code Like a Girl

Code Like a Girl was founded on the belief that we need diversity of experiences, perspectives and stories to build a world that is more empathetic, innovative and equal. True to this, Code Like a Girl seeks to close the gender gap in technology; inspiring new generations of girls to acquire coding as a skill through their coding camps, internship and events. By fostering innovative learning environments, girls from all backgrounds are given the chance to feel included, inspired and capable in the world of technology. Find out more: codelikeagirl.org

Meet the presenter: Ally Watson, CEO and co-founder, Code Like A Girl
Named one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s most influential female entrepreneurs of 2017, Ally Watson is a developer, computer science graduate and co-founder of Code Like a Girl. She was inspired to launch Code Like a Girl after personally experiencing the barriers women face in the technology industry. Ally is passionate about inspiring girls to acquire coding as a skill and encouraging more women to step into leadership roles.
