About the organisation
About the role
CatholicCare works on behalf of the Archdiocese of Melbourne and Diocese of Sale with a mission to build “life to the full” for families and communities, in all their diversity.
This position seeks to be an integral part of the Pastoral Care Team contributing to high quality pastoral care for young people in Youth Justice Custodial Services.
The incumbent will be required to respond effectively to the diverse spiritual and religious needs of youth and their families – particularly during times of parole and the accompanying emotional challenges that come with this. CatholicCare requires that the applicant be a practising member of the Catholic Church with a strong commitment to Catholic Social Teaching.
Young people in the Youth Justice Custodial Services across the Parkville and Malmsbury campuses come from complex and diverse social, family and cultural backgrounds. The applicant will bring extensive experience with and insight into the pastoral accompaniment of young people who represent many cultures and diverse world views. A capacity to work on weekends as well as weekdays, where some focus can be given to family support will be advantageous.
If this position is of interest and you possess:
- A theology and Pastoral Care qualification, preferably a Bachelor’s degree in theology, or other relevant degree, which would need to have included studies in theology.
- At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent supervised pastoral education and preferably Clinical Pastoral Education at an advanced level or equivalent supervised pastoral education.
- Tertiary qualification in or progress towards welfare, social sciences, pastoral counselling or equivalent.
- Extensive work experience with young people in the welfare or corrections sector, preferably in the youth justice setting.
CatholicCare is an Equal Opportunity employer and values its multi-cultural and multi-denominational staff. CatholicCare staff enjoy the benefits of an Employment Agreement and Public Benevolent Institution tax status which have the impact of providing more net pay and leave benefits.
