About us

Wesley Mission Victoria’s vision is a community where all people can participate with dignity and hope. Find out more at www.wesley.org.au about the role. Uniting Church agencies have been providing out-of-home care services for children and young people for over a century. Comprising of eight participant organisations with similar values, the UnitingCare Heritage Service has been created to support those individuals (and their families) who spent time in these organisations as children, and who have returned to the organisations as adults, seeking records and other information about their time in care. The Heritage Coordinator is responsible for achieving the objectives of the Heritage Service, in keeping with its service model, policies, procedures and applicable legislation. This primarily involves provision of the supported release of records, counselling, referrals to support services, and connection/reunification activities.

About you

In addition to a positive, patient, highly motivated and enthusiastic attitude, you have:

  • A sound knowledge of the Victorian out-of-home care system, historic and current, and the issues for those transitioning from out-of-home care to adulthood
  • Knowledge of the services available to individuals who have spent all or part of their child hood in out-of-home care
  • A tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work or a related discipline
  • Experience counselling people who have experienced childhood trauma
  • Well-developed communication and organisational skills.

Our culture

The work we do impacts every day upon many people’s lives. Our values of hope, compassion and justice guide us in everything we do.
Hope is the promise of a better future for every person in a fairer world.
Compassion is seeking to understand the experience of others, standing alongside and being moved to respond.
Justice is the right of all people to be treated with respect and fairness in an equitable society.
