FAMILY WORKER, RYDE FAMILY SERVICES (RFS)
3 DAYS PER WEEK

RFS is a dynamic and growing organisation that provides early intervention and prevention services to the community of families and individuals specifically in the areas of family and parenting support, homelessness and domestic violence. RFS provides support in the form of case work, counselling, advice, referrals, advocacy and group work.
The Family Worker will work with the Family Support Team to provide services that support a strengths based approach to parenting and family well-being through individual and group advice and support as well as the facilitation of accredited parenting programs such as Tuning into Kids/ Tuning into Teens and Circle of Security. The Family Worker will work with parents, children and young people.
Salary will be in accordance with SCHADS Awards Level 5; Grade in accordance with applicant’s skills, knowledge and experience. There is generous salary packaging as well as monthly team clinical supervision available for this role. The RFS office is located at West Ryde with outreach services delivered from Eastwood and St Ives.
Essential Criteria:
• University qualifications in social work/psychology or related field
• High level interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a range of external stakeholders.
• Experience in working collaboratively within the community
• Experience in case management and able to find solutions to complex situations
• Demonstrated experience in a strengths based, solution focussed approach to working with families.
• Experienced in delivering group programs
• Competence in Microsoft Office and ability to navigate client databases
• Ability to work afterhours on occasions, for example to facilitate parenting programs in the evening or weekend
• Willingness to explore innovative approaches towards organisational sustainability
• Current driver’s license.
Desirable Criteria:
• Accreditation to deliver evidence based parenting programs
• Experience and interest in working with young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years.
• Bilingual/community language
