About the role

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is the largest provider of orientation and mobility services for people with impaired vision in Australia. We have a trusted and recognised brand and deliver thousands of free client programs annually.

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to lead and manage all activities and staff in the Philanthropy team (a subset of our Fundraising team). The Philanthropy team includes relational fundraising activities such as major gifts, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, model dogs, and community fundraising. Responsibilities in this position include:

• Manage the major gift program which includes cultivating and stewarding relationships, implementing activities to generate new prospects, personally soliciting major gifts, managing the Major Appeal initiative (launching in late 2016), organising events and liaising with internal stakeholders on the development of gifting opportunities;
• Lead, manage and support staff in the team to achieve objectives;
• Manage the development and implementation of the corporate partnership program;
• Oversee the development and implementation of the Trusts and Foundations grant program;
• Oversee the development and implementation of the model dogs program;
• Oversee the development and implementation of the community fundraising program;
• Work the General Manager, Fundraising and the CEO on the development of new income streams; and
• Contribute to the department’s strategic and operational plans, and new initiatives.

To be considered for this opportunity you must demonstrate having met the following selection criteria:

• At least 3-5 years’ experience in a senior fundraising relationship management role;
• Experience managing staff to achieve financial targets;
• Experience in operational planning, budgeting, and resource management;
• Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification;
• Experience in soliciting large gifts from individual donors and corporates and managing relationships with same;
• Commercial and entrepreneurial perspective on income generation;
• Ability to identify and focus on areas of greatest productivity;
• High level interpersonal and presentation skills;
• Research skills and innovative approach to work and creativity;
• The ability to manage the goals of the organisation in conjunction with the goals of the supporter to obtain the best outcome for both;
• Possession of a current drivers licence with a good driving history;
• Outstanding negotiation skills, persuasive ability and communication skills; and
• Experience using CRM systems and MS Office software.
