We are looking for an experienced Community Mental Health Worker who will be responsible for providing a high quality service to members in the community with histories of both homelessness and severe and enduring mental illness. The role aims to enhance our consumers’ quality of life, build life skills and ensure access to community mental health as well as broader health and community services.
The Collaborative Recovery Model underpins all of the work we deliver and this ensures a flexible and family centred approach which is also trauma informed and culturally appropriate. The client directed care plans we develop promote choice, acknowledge individual strengths and facilitate inclusion within the community.
Although you will be allocated an individual case load, the team also employ a team approach to all client care. The team works collaboratively with clients, carers and coworkers to ensure the provision of evidence-based best practice.

This position would be ideally suited to someone who:

  • Holds a tertiary qualification in a relevant sector and/or commensurate experience in a related area;
  • Has a detailed understanding of the challenges people with severe and enduring mental illness and their families face;
  • Has an understanding of the homelessness service system;
  • Is analytical thinking and problem solving skills and crisis intervention;
  • Is professional and respectful, with the ability to work as part of a team and autonomously;
  • Has the appropriate IT skills and experience with electronic client management systems.
