The organisation
safe steps Family Violence Response Centre is the state-wide 24/7 service for women and their children experiencing violence. It provides immediate support, information, advocacy, referral and emergency accommodation, and is the central point of contact for the specialist family violence service system across Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity to join safe steps at a time of significant growth during major social service reform.
The role
Reporting to the CEO, your focus will be on continuing to build safe steps’ key position in the family violence sector as an innovative social change agent and ensuring its future sustainability. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategy and business development;
- Community development and prevention of VAW initiatives;
- Innovation and implementation of projects to improve business performance;
- Identifying and developing new sustainable sources of income and community support;
- Submission writing, feasibility assessments, business plans and cases;
- Financial modelling and preparation of strategic and risk assessments;
- Maintaining existing, and building new strategic stakeholder relationships; and
- Oversight of its marketing, communications and fundraising activities.
Experience and skills required
Possessing relevant tertiary qualifications in business / commerce, you have strong business development experience at an executive management level. Key Criteria include:
- Experience in formulating complex strategy and policy;
- Experience in leading innovative social change projects;
- Strong skills in business planning and analysis, financial modelling, data acquisition and manipulation;
- Formulating and developing business strategies, business policy and structure;
- A successful track record in project management;
- The ability to identify, initiate and sustain strategic stakeholder relationships;
- Experience in marketing, communications and fundraising activities with an emphasis on brand development; and
- A sound understanding of the structural and theoretical issues surrounding domestic / family violence.
