About the role
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Pathways Manager, the Pathways Advisor is responsible for the individual case management of secondary AIEF scholarship students and executing the day-to-day delivery of the AIEF Pathways Program.
The Pathways Advisor ensures the successful transition of AIEF scholarship students across Australia to further studies or employment through career focused case management, the development of employment related skills and networks and the support of student-mentor relationships.
This includes working professionally and strategically with internal stakeholders, schools, mentors, tertiary institutions, employers, Corporate Partners and others to achieve the best outcomes for Indigenous students.
As AIEF’s Pathways Advisor your responsibilities will include the following:
• Ensure AIEF organisational targets and outcomes are achieved through the successful delivery of the AIEF Pathways Program.
• Build and maintain trusting and respectful relationships with students so that AIEF is their ‘go to’ for career advice and support.
• Student career development through consultation with students and schools to develop an informed and considered Career Plan for each student by undertaking career sessions, identification of employment opportunities, tertiary entrance, scholarship and employment applications, and providing practical support and skills development activities.
• Support and monitor student-mentor relationships by providing advice and skills development to mentors to assist in building a strong, trusting and respectful relationship between the student and mentor and ensure a strong network is in place to support students’ transition to their chosen post-school pathway.
• Build and maintain professional and supportive relationships with key stakeholders including mentors, educational partner and corporate contacts.
• Plan, coordinate and facilitate Pathways events, activities and training sessions as required for students and mentors.
• Report on program status by maintaining AIEF’s stakeholder management database, identify and implement program and process improvement, and perform administrative duties to ensure achievement of desired program outcomes.
Selection Criteria
The right person for this role will:
• Have experience in providing career advice and/or achieving successful employment outcomes for school aged students and/or young adults.
• Have experience in program delivery and improvement particularly in an education environment secondary and/or tertiary.
• Be a highly skilled communicator with an ability to build effective and professional relationships with students, educational institutions, corporates and other stakeholders.
• Be organised, efficient and have strong time/priority management skills.
• Be thorough and accurate with a high level of attention to detail.
• Be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience using a CRM database.
• Be passionate about working in a highly professional and busy team environment.
• Be personally passionate and committed to Closing the Gap through Indigenous education and employment.
• Personally emulate AIEFs core values of “hard heads, soft hearts and capable hands”.
Prior experience working with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is highly desirable.

Terms will be negotiated depending on the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
This role requires regular interstate travel throughout the course of the year. Whilst not a mandatory requirement, it will be advantageous for all AIEF employees to have a drivers licence. Please indicate on your application whether or not you have a drivers licence.
All AIEF employees are required to undergo ‘Working with Children Police Checks’ as a condition of employment.
