InTouch, the Multicultural Centre against Family Violence, is a statewide service, which provides services, programs and responses to issues of family violence in CALD communities. By acknowledging the rights and diverse experiences of our clients, we develop and implement a number of culturally sensitive and holistic models for the provision of services to both victims and perpetrators of family violence.

About the role

The Opportunity
The Royal Commission into Family Violence found that the needs of culturally diverse communities were not being adequately met by mainstream services. The Royal Commission recommended that the Government provide funding to support specialist family violence providers and mainstream services to recognise the needs of communities from diverse cultural, linguistic and faith backgrounds and provide appropriate services.

In response to recommendation 139 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence, funding has been provided by Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Division to enable inTouch to become a specialist body and build the capacity of specialist family violence providers of mainstream services to improve their responsiveness to the needs of communities from diverse cultural, linguistic and faith backgrounds and provide appropriate services.

The Position
Working closely with the Capacity Building and Projects Manager, the position will coordinate and deliver all aspects of inTouch’s capacity building programs. The role will be primarily responsible for:

• the provision of training and other professional development opportunities and resources to increase the cultural competency in a family violence context of specialist family violence service providers and providers of universal services;
• conduct needs analysis, develop tailored training packages and provide training and other professional development opportunities and resources to support faith leaders, faith communities and ethno-specific multicultural organisations to prevent and respond to family violence;
• coordinate and co-facilitate inTouch’s different training programs and respond to one-off training requests;
• Assist in establishing and maintaining various networks and explore opportunities for capacity building
• develop an annual training plan and maintain training database to monitor and guide training;
• develop training policies and procedures as part of the quality system;
• operate all training requirements within a defined budget;
• evaluation and continuous improvement
• contribute to the work of inTouch more broadly
• other duties as directed by the Capacity Building and Project Manager;

Key Selection Criteria – Essential
• Experience working within a feminist framework and an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence;
• Knowledge of barriers and challenges that women experiencing family violence from CALD background face;
• Professional expertise and experience in the development and delivery of training on family violence prevention and response;
• Proven ability to develop and support positive relationships with a wide range of key government, non-government and community stakeholders;
• Familiar with adult learning principles and strategies to engage diverse audiences
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
• Some project/contract management experience desirable;
• The role will involve some travel to regional/rural areas and overnight stay;
• Proficiency in oral and written English skills.

Conditions of Employment
• The position is a full-time, fixed term position;
• The annual salary for this position is based on the inTouch Employee Union Collective Agreement and is negotiable depending on experience;
• The position will attract five (5) weeks annual leave per annum;
• Salary packaging may be provided subject to the terms of and conditions of the inTouch Salary Packaging Policy;
• Superannuation Scheme is available through HESTA and the provisions of the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 will apply;
• The successful applicant will be required to undergo satisfactory pre-employment checks, including 2 referees, a national and/or international criminal records check, working with children check, proof of identify and qualifications. One referee must be from the most recent direct supervisor;
• Signing a Confidentially Agreement is a personnel requirement of inTouch;
• The successful applicant will initially be engaged for a probationary period of six months. During this period, either party can terminate employment with one week’s notice;
• The successful applicant will be required to disclose any pre-existing illness or injury that they know about which could be reasonably foreseen to be affected by the work duties described. Pursuant to s.82 (7) of the Accident Compensation Act, failure to disclose such a condition will mean that if employed, they will not be paid compensation for that condition;
• Some travel within Queensland may be required from time to time. A current Victorian Driver’s License is essential;
• inTouch has a smoke-free workplace policy;
