Alzheimer’s Australia is the national peak body representing people with dementia and their families and carers. The organisation provides innovative services, is an advocate for people with dementia and their families and plays a key role in research, education and policy development working with government to understand more about the condition and to address the needs of those who are impacted.

The National Board of Alzheimer’s Australia, has recently agreed to bring together the State and Territory Alzheimer’s Associations, which previously formed Alzheimer’s Australia, into one unified national body to be re-branded and launched as Dementia Australia in October this year. A national organisational structure is being implemented and the organisation is now seeking to hear from candidates interested in appointment to the final vacancy on the executive team.
Reporting to the CEO and having regular dealings with the Board, the Executive Director Business Development is responsible for the Business Development team and the Tender Submission Office. The role will review current operating programs with a view to leveraging those and generate new opportunities to expand both the reach and income for the organisation. The incumbent’s understanding of consumer directed care developments in aged care funding will assist them to see opportunities and help the organisation to realise increased income from fee for service activities, ensuring its continued financial sustainability.

Applicants wishing to be considered for the opportunity will need to be experienced strategic leaders with a collaborative approach and a commitment to the organisation’s purpose and values and attributes including:
• Extensive experience in new business development and account management preferably in the Aged Care, Community Services or Disability Support sector
• Proven tender oversight responsibility with a track record of winning new business

A knowledge of dementia, its impact on families and carers and intervention strategies to assist people with dementia and their carers with networks in the Aged Care sector is desirable but not essential.
