About the role

UTS is celebrated for its commitment to community engagement and social justice. UTS shopfront is an award-winning, globally recognised community-university engagement program. Established in 1996 as a project to match UTS students with small community-based organisations, the Shopfront program has since seen more than 1000 projects with 800 community organisations completed and become one of the university’s key programs championing social justice and the scholarship of community engagement.

UTS Shopfront focuses on three program areas – the Shopfront Community Program, which pairs coursework students with community based organisations; the UTS SOUL Award – a leadership and volunteering program for UTS Students, and Gateways our international, peer reviewed journal of community engagement.

We are recruiting an inspirational Program Manager to guide the program into the next phase of development. You will lead the overall direction, profile, reputation, management and administration of the UTS Shopfront and the UTS SOUL: Award.

You will be instrumental to the external engagement portfolio of UTS being the epicentre of communication between community organisations, UTS Staff and students. Managing a
a small and specialised unit; significant innovation, initiative and judgment will be required. You will investigate new and existing funding sources locally, nationally and internationally and oversee grant and tender applications whilst facilitating the integration of community and corporate engagement.

Main skills/experience required:
•Experience working in a number of sectors (community, corporate and/or public) with a community engagement or stakeholder engagement focus
•Demonstrated knowledge of practice and theory in Community Engagement relevant to local and international contexts, preferably in a higher education setting
•Demonstrated knowledge of community sector and social issues in City of Sydney jurisdiction as well as more broadly
•Extensive local and international network across sectors – community engagement, tertiary sector and government
•Demonstrated strong liaison and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders across a range of inter-cultural and professional settings
•Demonstrated event and project management skills

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $110,808 to $116,084 pa (HEW 9)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a continuing full-time basis.
