The Community Life Section of Council is focused on strengthening the conditions for community wellbeing through planning for, building on and celebrating the strengths, assets and opportunities of the people and places of Campbelltown. We comprise a Social Planning and Partnerships Team, a Place and Projects Team, and a Community Events and Activation Team.

About the role

We now have an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Community Project Officer to work with the community, key stakeholders and team members to develop place based projects and services that respond to and harness local community strengths and assets in places around the City and the community as part of Council’s overall Community Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities may include:
• To facilitate and develop outcomes focused placed based projects which build community capacity as identified and directed by Council through consultation and planning
• Plan, implement and evaluate strategies and activities to meet designated outcomes of Council”s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan
• Undertake projects to build capacity within local groups and organisations
• Develop and support appropriate events such as Seniors Week, Harmony Day and International Women’s Day to promote inclusiveness and celebrate our community

The successful candidate will display the following key skills and attributes:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences, community development or similar field
• Demonstrated job related experience in community relevant community work and the ability to undertake this in a place based framework
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement and consultation
• High standard of interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
