Foodbank Queensland (FBQ) is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation, which acts as a pantry to charities and community groups who feed the hungry. This is done by collecting surplus, salvaged and donated food and grocery products from food producers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers and distributing it to agencies to disseminate to people in need. Last year FBQ distributed the equivalent of 21 million meals.

FBQ is now entering a growth phase in a challenging environment. As a result of this we are seeking additional board members to bring skills in marketing (including digital), communication, stakeholder engagement and fundraising.

FBQ directors are volunteers, and are required to attend roughly 6-7 board meetings per year plus membership of a relevant committee (a further three meetings per year). The role is “hands on” to support the permanent staff contingent of 15 positions.
We are seeking the interest of suitably qualified individuals who have a good knowledge of director’s responsibilities, especially in a not-for-profit environment, formal qualifications in marketing, communications or a similar business discipline, strategic expertise/ experience, especially in marketing and communications and an basic understanding of accounting, legal and risk management disciplines.

Successful appointees will have an empathetic connection to the purpose and values of Foodbank, an enthusiasm and desire to contribute broadly on to the success of the organisation and a well-stocked toolkit of connections, skills and creative ideas.
