About the role
POSITION OBJECTIVE
WA is seeking an experienced manager with a background in early intervention mental health for a 6 month fixed term contract. This opportunity will develop and expand our work in supporting youth aged 0-18 years with mental health vulnerabilities. This program provides a family systems case management framework. The team consists of 7 staff; which includes the following reports – two team leaders and 5 case workers. The staff provide a dedicated service to families with youth who have a mental health vulnerability. All staff are supported and encouraged to be agents of change in the lives of people experiencing significant life challenges. The service operates from two centres located in Fairfield and Auburn, with the manager operating from both of these sites.
MAIN DUTIES
- Achieve the outcomes of the Strong Minds business plan based on the WA Strategic and program requirements
- Responsible for achieving, recording and reporting agreed KPIs for the Strong Minds team
- Mentor and manage staff to effectively carry out their role, including the need for staff to meet WA quality system requirements
- Working in conjunction with the team leaders, coordinate the workloads and outcomes expected of the Strong Minds Team
- Ensure best practice work is completed to assist families which includes: Need assessments, Information and referrals, Practical assistance and Home-based support and advocacy
- Act as a positive team player with staff and the senior management team
- Proactively show initiative in expanding our mental health services into further areas of innovation
ESSENTIAL
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Management or equivalent
- At least 5 years’ management experience, preferably in human services
- Extensive experience working with children and young people with mental illness, including case management and knowledge of mental health issues.
- Experience in program management, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in delivery of services to Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- High level of verbal and written skill, including successful tender writing
- A commitment to social justice
