The AIDS Action Council of the ACT (the Council) is a community-based health organisation that originated in 1983 from a grass roots response to a looming crisis. The Council aims to reduce transmission or to minimise the personal and social impacts of HIV/AIDS by delivering care and support services as well as broader HIV education and health promotion.

The Council currently has a highly rewarding opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Corporate Support Officer to join their friendly team in Canberra, ACT.

In this highly varied role, you will be reporting to the Executive Director and be responsible for providing reception and corporate support services, including finance and general administrative assistance. Furthermore, you will provide high level executive support services to the Executive Director. Under a shared service arrangement, this role will also provide corporate support for another small community based organisation for up to one day a week.

You will have significant experience providing support in a corporate environment, along with relevant tertiary qualifications. Your background will have given you demonstrated finance, administrative and office-based skills, as well as the ability to perform reception and executive support duties to a very high standard.

You’ll have an outstanding phone manner, and be calm and empathetic when managing difficult enquiries. These communication skills will extend to your interactions with stakeholders, and you’ll be able to work productively with a broad range of people from varied personal, professional and cultural backgrounds. A high level of tact and professionalism is essential.

As you’ll be managing correspondence and numerous other forms of communication, you’ll need strong writing and editing skills, as well as a high level of organisation and attention to detail. Equally, you’ll be able to prioritise your workload to manage your time effectively and achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes. Excellent computer skills are essential.
