About the organisation

Organisation Name : The University of Queensland

This is a time of transformational change at The University of Queensland, having recently launched the first comprehensive philanthropic campaign in its history. The campaign goal is to raise $500 million by the end of 2020 towards empowering student success, transforming teaching and learning, and driving discovery and impact.

The Faculty of Science at UQ unites the disciplines of agriculture and animals, biomedical and biological sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, food sciences, geography, marine science, maths and physics, planning, the environment and veterinary science. It is recognised as a powerhouse for some of the world’s leading scientists, mathematicians, teachers, science programs and commercial outcomes.

Working closely with the Faculty Executive, the central Advancement Office and key internal and external stakeholders, the Director of Advancement will develop a comprehensive and coordinated philanthropic program supported by an effective communications and engagement strategy that articulates the long-term philanthropic goals and achievements of the Faculty of Science.

About the role

In this newly created position, the Faculty is looking forward to an experienced Director of Advancement joining their team who will create and implement a robust advancement program in line with the University’s Strategic Plan. Focus will be on securing major gifts and fostering industry engagement. This may also lead to increase sponsorship and contract research. Also pivotal will be the development of an Alumni and Community Engagement strategy.

Key to your success will be the ability to identify and secure long-term major gift prospects and industry contacts, combined with your experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. Your passion and dedication to the discipline of Science will be paramount, as will your commitment to success for the Faculty and the University more broadly.

Senior fundraising professionals, or individuals with experience in high level relationship management, business development or sales roles resulting in a successful financial negotiation, are invited to apply for this pivotal position.
