About the role
Role Overview
The General Manager – Membership role is a national role and the incumbent is responsible for the organisation’s National Membership Strategy in conjunction with the organisation’s overall strategy. The role is both strategic and operational. The role reports to the CEO and person will operate as part of the Executive Leadership Team. Specifically, the role is responsible for setting the Membership Strategic Direction, Relationship Development, Revenue Generation, Membership Engagement, Operational Management and Review as well as developing the Philanthropy framework.
Specifically, the role is responsible for:
Strategic Direction:
- (external): the development and delivery of the Membership Strategy, focussing on member acquisition, retention and growth including both individual and corporate members. The objective is to target all over 50’s target market including the current membership base.
- (internal) the development of membership strategies and membership growth initiatives by leveraging all business units’ offerings across the organisation in collaboration with the ELT and other key internal stakeholders.
Relationship Development: Connecting and building relationships, networks and new partnership opportunities with a wide range of organisations and industries, other like-minded organisations, corporates and government agencies
Revenue Generation: Holding accountability with setting and achieving income targets which are aligned with KPI’s and financial targets.
Membership Engagement: Developing strategies to engage with current and future members as well as the wider over 50s demographic.
Operational Management: the development and implementation of processes and structures to support the delivery of the Membership Strategy in line with the overall Strategic Objectives. Also, responsible for managing the effective development, planning, implementation, tracking and reporting of all membership activities, events and programs (implementing operational plans to achieve targets).
Operational Review: Reviewing the current Individual Member Offering as well as the current Corporate Member Offering ensuring all offerings align with the end-users’ expectations and revise offerings where required. Specifically required to develop and deliver a revised National Corporate Partner Relationship Program.
Philanthropy: Establishing a fundraising, philanthropic and sponsorship program and framework.
