Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a social purpose organisation that works with partners to improve the lives of people in need in Australia by helping businesses, governments and philanthropists to be more effective funders and social purpose organisations to be more effective at delivering services. SVA’s Partnerships team is key to ensuring the future sustainability and growth of SVA by developing and managing our relationships with funders, including trusts and foundations, business and high net worth individuals/families. The Partnerships team actively seeks funding from supporters, works closely with senior executives to support their funding relationships and helps steward SVA’s close relationships with our philanthropic and corporate supporters.

The position
The Grants Writer plays a key role in support of SVA’s partnerships and fundraising agenda, working collaboratively across all SVA. Working as part of SVA’s Partnerships team, the Grants Writer helps research and author funder proposals that contribute to SVA meeting our ‘financial sustainability’ objective. Core elements of the position include; targeted desk based research of potential funders (e.g. Trusts, Foundations, High Net Worth individuals and government); and the preparation, writing and delivery of successful funder submissions. Secondary elements include; report writing and other written communication requirements.
 
Who you are
In this appointment, we are seeking previous experience in the research and preparation of successful philanthropic grant submissions within a not-for-profit, social sector context or equivalent. With a successful track record with philanthropic grant writing, you will come to the role with an understanding of the Australian funder landscape and philanthropic communities and a strong working knowledge of the NSW, ACT and QLD markets an advantage. A working knowledge of applicable tools and resources to inform funder research, experience in report writing and proven expertise in stakeholder management are essential. A demonstrated knowledge and interest in SVA’s domain areas (i.e. education, employment, housing and with First Australians) across Australia will see you be successful in this role.
 
As a member of SVA’s Partnerships team you will collaborate with a highly committed team with a breadth of expertise across the business and social sectors. The focus of this role will see you forging close relationships with inspiring colleagues and stakeholders working on society’s most important challenges.
