About the role

As the Out of Home Care Family Social Worker you will support foster carers and their Aboriginal foster children with intensive in-home support. This will involve culturally driven attachment based programs to strengthen foster placements. The out of home care children you will be working with have complex trauma histories, often with exposure to domestic violence, mental illness and substance misuse. Your role will be to work with their foster carers to understand the function of the child’s difficult behaviour, and develop trauma informed individual plans to build attachment, set routines, and engage in positive behaviour management as required.
The Out of Home Care Family Social Worker will form part of the multidisciplinary clinical service supporting children in OOHC and will report to the Senior Psychologist.
We are looking for someone dedicated to working with vulnerable children and their foster carers as part of a multidisciplinary Allied Health team. You will be required to work collaboratively with carers, children and their KARI caseworkers.
